Prof. Jia Duan is an artist and filmmaker (animation and documentar) painter, writer. she grew up in a family of artists and scholars. she learned the art of painting since childhood. After China’s Cultural Revolution, as the first University students she graduated from Art Department of prestigious Beijing Film Academy 1982. Then, she went to China Central Music Academy to study music. From 1986, she started her own artistic film creation and gradually became one of the influential Chinese filmmakers of the fifth generation. And professor of Beijing Film Academy, dean of Animation Art Department. Since 2018, after retired, she settling in Vancouver, Canada as an independent artist filmmaker and painter.
